Revised Girl and Expressions

I revised the Girl design according to a few things that Saul mentioned and what ACME pro's mentioned. I hope she looks a little more feminine now! I also sketched out a few expressions.

The design for Prometheus is going to take a little longer. I need to research a bit more for him.

Any comments or critiques are welcome and appreciated! Stay tuned for more stuff! :)

"Spirit" Sketch

I was listening to Madonna's Ray of Light Album and this is what I got... pretty bizarre I guess. The title "Spirit" is obviously a place holder until I think of a better one. Maybe I'll color it when I get the chance. I'll have to tweak with it a lot before I do though... the composition isn't really there and I'll have to mess with sizes and placements of things and such...

Anyways, stay tuned for more stuff! :)

Project: Prometheus

Jan helped me think of a story for a short film. In short, it's a story on my take of how Prometheus gives fire to mankind. Prometheus is a teenager, and has a crush on a human girl. She's shivering from the cold and Prometheus wants to help her and steals the fire. It's going to be a light hearted story. I'm going to keep working on it as much as I can. Stay tuned for more stuff! Maybe revised designs, turn-arounds, or storyboards!

Something I made...

"Tasty Love"

This is a present I made for Januel for his trip to LA (to work at DreamWorks as a story artist!). It's a joke we have... I blow him kisses and he eats them.

Good luck and work hard Jan!! <3

Summer Figure Drawing and Sketches

Jan, Andrea, Chris Palmer, Saul, Chris McKane, and I went to Cogwell to do some figure drawing!

A couple days before that Jan, Andrea, and I went sketching at Borders.

This boy was actually done in the Cocola Cafe at Santana Row when Saul joined us to sketch.

Hmm that's about it for artwork I think. Stay tuned for more! :) Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!

Nefertiti Revisited

Hey all! Whenever I get the chance I always try to go back to my personal project Nefertiti. Actually I just want to make a successful character design for her that eventually be feature quality. I guess you can say she's like the ongoing/guinea pig project. But here's what it looks like now:

Left two bigger drawings are what I'm leaning towards in developing her further. Right small drawings are more explorations.

I really like how she is evolving, if you look at how I approached her last year it was completely different. Anyways, I'll keep working on her when I can. Maybe some facial expressions and such. Stay tuned! :)

Also, any comments or critiques are appreciated. I would love to hear about how she could be better in terms of appeal, rhythms, shapes, contrast, etc. That goes the same with my animations. Thank you!

Sack Pantomime Update 2!

Another update on the Sack. Again, no sound, but everything is wrapping up. It's cleaned up now and more consistent. Just need to put the hula-skirt in.

Oh, but there's more I want to do to it! If I have extra time I'll do it, then post up the Final version! Stay tuned! School is almost ooovvvveeeeerrr......!

Sack Pantomime Update!

Hello! Here's an update on the Sack Pantomime assignment.

I've been working on it a lot, but there's still a lot to do! There's no sound right now and it's super rough. Timing will be fixed and will need to in-between stuff.

Anyways... that's about it for now. I'll try to take a picture of my color comps sometime and post them. They were turned in a while ago and I'm working on the final big painting now. Wish me luck! (I will need it...)

Final B&W Rendering

Here's a scan (8 scans put together on Photoshop) of the Black and White graphite rendering of my Tidepool:

Boy did I pull it out of the grave... I'm actually content with it right now rather than wanting to strangle it. Thanks to Jan and all my friends for critiques and helping me.. :)

Coming soon.... Color comps! Stay tuned!

Walk Cycle with Narrative

Here's a walk cycle that was due today... this time it's with character and narration. It's not a full on story or anything, just a short test.

Man I'm tired... I didn't have a lot of time to work on this but I did my best with the given time. There's a lot of work to be done! 4 more weeks of school! Hurray! :)

Just a silly idea I had for the sack pantomime assignment:

This is what I pitched to Dave and my classmates.. he suggested that the sack is first sad or feeling down, then the contrast from that to be energetic would be cool. Also the ending would not have the girl sack, but instead maybe like the music stops or the hula skirt falls off and he's sad again.

Walk cycle with character/emotion is due soon! Stay tuned for a model sheet of my character and perhaps the animation! Little to no sleep for me this weekend! Hurray! :/

Behold! The mechanical walk cycle:

I tried to put all the elements of a mechanical walk cycle in it: The keys of course; contact, squash, leaning forward, passing position. I tried to make the timing like a rolling egg according to Prof. Garcia. Then I delayed the arms a little bit because arms shouldn't be on the opposite side of the legs exactly at the right time. Head moves to the right as right leg comes forward and vice versa. The tilting of the hips and shoulders should be there too. I tried to put it all in there!! Yaaaarrgghh~ Can't wait to do a walk with more character now.

EDIT: Phew I was finally able to post the animation. Anyways the crit I got from Dave is that the head swings back too abruptly and the position of the leg joining to the body is inconsistent. There is a lot more mistakes than that but.. bah... that's what makes the walk cycle hard... I just can't get it all...

Oh and also, I revisited my Nefertiti character. Here's just a few rough sketches:

I'm going to develop the one on the top left one more. Fixing the proportions and drawing through with a critique I got from Jake.

Stay tuned for... umm... what's next... Hmm I dunno! Stay tuned for something! :D

PS. Just throwing it out there.. Does anyone want to get me The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy set for an early birthday present? Hehehehehe... just kidding... sort of :P.

EDIT: I just bought the LOTR Trilogy so never mind. I couldn't help it I must own it!!!

Jump Test Final

Jump Test was due today and this is what I turned in:

Dave said that he should have his arms up above him during the apex, so I think that's what I'll do to revise it. Stay tuned for a walk cycle and maybe some 113B stuff! :)
