Short Story Animatic...

...that did not get approved cuz it's too long! I made the animatic fit about 30 seconds, but once it's animated it would turn into a minute. But it's ok, i'll keep the story and possibly animate it another time in the future! :)

Storyboard Class!

This semester I am fortunate to be taking a Storyboarding class with infamous Jeff Biancalana! Every week he gives us 9 panels in which to work with. He draws out the first panel and the rest is up to us. We can pretty much do whatever we want with it, considering story and composition of course. So this week this is what I got...



I'm sooo tired!!!! But there's so much more work to do!!! @_@;

First Animation of the Semester!

These are just rough key poses for the Eric Goldberg Gumball Machine challenge in my Intermediate Animation class. The challenge is within 10 seconds a character comes in from screen left, unaware that the machine is broken, show emotion change, then exits the same way.

There's a lot to be done with it... the poses can be better and such... but let's see what Dave says today in class.

We got until the end of Sep to finish this and show it to Eric Goldberg on ACME Transmission!! Yay!!! I gotta work hard on this!! Wish me luck!! :D

Sketch Book Pro!

I got Alias Sketch Book Pro 2.0 today! It's f*cking amazing!! I don't know why I didn't get it earlier! The sensitivity of pen and the response time is sooooo much better than Photoshop! So in celebration here's a quick sketch of a Night Elf done on Sketchbook Pro!

Cartoon Character

My friend Johnny wore a cool outfit the other day so I have been meaning to make him into a cartoon character. Very rocker-ish!

2nd Comic Strip Finished!

I finally finished the 2nd comic for school! I'm sure I'll find some minor mistakes later but hopefully not too much. If so I'll have to fix and resend it to Debra again. I can't wait to see them as bookmarks! Check them out, I think it's going to be passed out for this semester! :) If not, maybe the semester after... I'm not sure how long it takes for it to be printed and such.

Comic Strip for School

Here's a comic strip that I've been working on for San Jose State University. Debra said I can put it in my portfolio... which means my blog too...since I'll be transferring it to my portfolio... :)

San Jose State University owns this comic now. There might be a few last minute changes if Debra wants. I'm currently working on a second comic that is due soon... gotta work hard on it!!

Ah man...

I gotta say, It's 12:23am and I'm desperately trying to get a drawing down before going to bed... but I have to honestly say that I'm stuck. The Prometheus character designs are regressing rather than progressing... my drawings are turning out too stiff! But I guess that's the constant struggle as an artist. Maybe tomorrow I will feel the "flow" better.

Another thing that's hard is to really stick with the project. I'm really determined to get the Prometheus story done...atleast to get some solid designs, turn-arounds, and a rough storyboard before school starts... but nights like this... sucks. Lol. But I won't give up! And why am I writing on this blog like it's a personal diary? I have no idea. I guess I need to express my frustrations as an artist somehow through words (or text in this case). I KNOW that tomorrow will be better. Just gotta think positively! :) Keep on truckin', right? hehehe.

I'll work on it more tomorrow and the day after... I'll post something up if I get a good drawing done... usually my rough sketches are much more flowing and not stiff... but it gets so stiff when I clean it up. Another constant struggle for any other artist I guess. Anyone have any suggestions? Or is it one of those things where I just need to have more drawing mileage and learn on my own... hmm...

Anyways, I swear this will be the ONLY post I type that will be like a diary entry. It's really not like me to write like this, it's just not my thing.

Revised Girl and Expressions

I revised the Girl design according to a few things that Saul mentioned and what ACME pro's mentioned. I hope she looks a little more feminine now! I also sketched out a few expressions.

The design for Prometheus is going to take a little longer. I need to research a bit more for him.

"Spirit" Sketch

I was listening to Madonna's Ray of Light Album and this is what I got... pretty bizarre I guess. The title "Spirit" is obviously a place holder until I think of a better one. Maybe I'll color it when I get the chance. I'll have to tweak with it a lot before I do though... the composition isn't really there and I'll have to mess with sizes and placements of things and such...

Project: Prometheus

Jan helped me think of a story for a short film. In short, it's a story on my take of how Prometheus gives fire to mankind. Prometheus is a teenager, and has a crush on a human girl. She's shivering from the cold and Prometheus wants to help her and steals the fire. It's going to be a light hearted story. I'm going to keep working on it as much as I can. Stay tuned for more stuff! Maybe revised designs, turn-arounds, or storyboards!
